Fabric Friday: New Guest Room

Remember my guest room disaster?

When I am crafting, the whole house becomes “craft central”. But this weekend I am having overnight guests and 25 people for dinner Saturday. I had to hide EVERYTHING and make a room for my grandson and those people he brings with him (my son and daughter-in-law). My plan was to put all of my stuff away in an organized fashion. That lasted until there was no more room or I just couldn’t decide where it should go.
The fabric was stacked in bins or sorted into clear tubs by color.

But then I just shoved it in the closet

and closed the door

I have tried to give this room a sewing theme.

This Ethan Allen table was in my parent’s bedroom. It broke, so I fixed it and painted it to match the room.

I took the turned piece out of the pedestal and replaced it with a spool that I found at a flea market.

There are 2 quilted wall hangings. The top one was pieced by my mother and quilted by my grandmother. I made the other one.

In this room I have 3 paintings of bluebonnets. The top one is an oil painting by my grandmother. The next is an oil by my mother. The bottom was painted in acrylic by my son when he was 8.
WAGON 2 paintings april 017guest room 021 I did a watercolor of bluebonnets that hangs over the fireplace.

While my house is all clean, I plan to take lots of pictures so that I can share them on my blog. I am very proud of how I have made this lease house a home for us while we try to rebuild our lives after Hurricane Ike.

  3. I love the idea of a "sewing theme" guest room. That's what I'm going to do (when I run out of kids). Great ideas.

  5. Stopping over from Show and Tell Friday. Your guest room looks adorable. I love the sewing theme, as I'm a knitter, crafer, sewer myself.

  7. I LOVE your sewing-themed room! That spool table is fantastic! Great photos - you have certainly made your house very 'homely'. Must be hard to rebuild after a hurricane - we've just had a 'super' cyclone here in Queensland, and the devastation is heartbreaking!
    Your home looks beautiful!

Thanks for linking to a Round Tuit this week!
Hope you have a great week!
