Marvelous Monday: Marvelously Moneyless (Free)

I no longer buy things. I do not go to garage sales. I do not shop at thrift stores. I have more things in my house and garage and back yard and rented storage than I can ever deal with. Now that people know I will take their cast-offs, they call or email or just bring things to my house.

Last week a man from church brought me left over paint. Another friend is going to bring me some antlers hanging in her garage. I get fabric and sewing supplies. When friends have garage sales, I get what's left. They call when they see curbside finds.

Today I got this email:
 Hey,
Before I forget, we have an old very heavy oak dresser that was my parents.  It is out in T's junk filled workshop. If we could con like the C boys to come lift it, it might break down into some good wood for you.  The top over the years has begun to sag in the middle, but it is very heavy wood, so might be of some use.  What do you think?  Of course, getting it unloaded with stuff would be our first job, but would be good motivation for very own pack rat who lives here.

Also have a neat small roll top desk that has now been blessed with a few chew marks from some critters in our house.  It is the place where I'd like to put my aquarium, that has sat unused for years.  If we could get it to you, maybe you could heal its hurts & sell it.  If you give me a little cut of the profit, then I could use that to buy fish when I get the aquarium fixed up.

Of course, you may not need any of this & just tell me - won't be offended.  i'm generally hard to offend.
Yes, yes, yes I want it!!!!

My really nice neighbor is moving. Nearly every day she brings me something. She has brought clothes and games for my grandson. We have new toys for our back yard.

She has even brought furniture that she did not want to pack.

The neighbor across the street brought over this queen headboard and footboard.

I am in heaven!!!!

  2. Wow looks like there is a lot you can do with all of that. Are you going to DIY any of it to it to resell or do you use it with your decor at home?
