As we began to sing "Tell Me the Story of Jesus", I began painting Golgotha, the Place of the Skull, where Jesus was crucified. This was a very dark time for the followers.
Then I added the crosses. Scott did a beautiful and powerful reciting of Psalm 22, "My God, My God, Why have you forsaken me?"
After the darkness of the cross, I began to add the hill and tomb where he was to be buried. The scripture says the earth shook and I add lightning.
Finally at the end of communion, while we sang "He Could Have Called Ten Thousand Angels", I painted the stone in front of the tomb.
After I finished my part for the day, "The Darkest Day",
our minister gave a powerful lesson about God stamping out Satan by sending Jesus.
Next week, on Easter Sunday, we will have
"the rest of the story"
We took a video today, but I can't figure out how to download it to the computer. I will try to add that later. God was with me while I was painting.
Good day, Melanie,
ReplyDeleteBegan reading about this last night but couldn't finish until today...Wow! painting in the church service - Glad to see God's people taking note of the talent among them. Good for you (or maybe I should say 'God for you'!)
Thank you for visiting and for your delightful comment. Have a glorious day,
Marianne
